INTRODUCTION TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION-A CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC FORM OF GOVERNMENT 09-24-17

We humans are a unique species, Identified as Homo sapien, that inhabits one small planet in one of perhaps billions of universes. This species exhibits extreme positive and negative behavior. The light side of this species creates unimagineable acts and forms of art. For centuries this species struggled to contain the conflict and chaos inflicted on themselves by their dark nature. Then, in the seventeenth century enlightened and courageous Founding Fathers, on a new continent, provided the means by which humans cound be free and independent. That was the birth of a Constitution.

Long ago, 13 colonies united to gain the security necessary to protect them from aggressive foreign nations. Fortunately U.S. Founding Fathers endured the hardships of travel from state to state to meet together to debate the future of the nation. Their declaration of freedom from England gained them a death sentence if they failed. Fortunately, they succeeded and gave us aConstitution that offered freedom, prosperity and peace. You know the rest of the story.

The Founding Fathers predicted citizens would fail to hold the government and themselves accountable to the Constitution and related principles. We know the rest of the story. Now, we are divided, dysfunctional, a debtor to the world and vulnerable to the rise of struggling nations that share the same challenges. As strange as it may seem, most nations desperately want United States Citizens to unite, restore fiscal responsibility, and return to a constitutional republic form of government. World citizen enlightenment is the bridge to the future. Chapter One, Enlightenment, is dedicated to defining what enlightenment means and the opportunities open to every citizen and nation. Citizen enlightenment was and continues to be dependent on government, education, and religious leaders complying with Constitution requirements. These leaders are the first line of defense in assuring that citizens have the knowledge and wisdom to select, propose, and place in office qualified national leaders.

The Preamble states, “This Constitution is ordained and established by, ‘We the People’. Thomas Jefferson stated the following:

“I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their indiscretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”

Becoming enlightened requires personal initiative. Enlightenment is also shaped by how citizens relate to the universe, planet earth, creation, and one another.

This Website attempts to define a path that world nations can pursue to become enlightened, unified, and capable of establishing common policies and goals. Unified nations working together have an opportunity to meet expectations. Humans have the innate skills and experience necessary to meet all reasonable expectations. Yet, leaders and citizens fail to provide and demonstrate the leadership necessary to unite world citizens on a common path. This Website attempts to address each of these issues and use the wisdom and cautions of nation’s early Founding Fathers to set a new path.

World nations are adrift and foundering in a global world without a rudder to steer them into the future. Each nation navigates a direction dictated by whoever controls state power. National leaders empowerment to lead is dependent on citizens being willing to follow. When both leaders and citizens lack the wisdom to articulate a constructive path all nations are in trouble. This need not be. This turbulent twenty first century requires changes that enlighten, unify, and align nations on a common course. The following obstacles are typical of all obstacles that must be confronted and resolved.

First Obstacle-World citizens must recognize and acknowledge the dark and light side of human nature. Humankind has tilted to the dark side and must now make a correction. Only then can world citizens institute checks and balances that assure that the light side of human nature is predominate.

Second Obstacle-A positive global future is dependent on a majority of enlightened world citizens. Today, there are not enough. Chapter One-Enlightenment discusses a process for the development of enlightened citizens. The future of our world civilization requires citizens to control their governments, selection of representatives, participation in legislation, and to be guardians that monitor and hold themselves and their governments accountable to constitutions designed with checks and balances. This responsibility requires a majority of enlightened citizens. If we maximized enlightenment schooling of children today we would be at least a generation away from having a majority of enlightened world citizens. This suggests the urgency citizens face.

Third Obstacle-World citizens must recognize and acknowledge that they have chosen and are continuing to choose a path of conflict and chaos. They continue to sacrifice themselves and their families for the following reasons:

Reason one-It is much easier for citizens to cling to political parties that place their political party benefits above the common interest of their nation and their children.

Reason two- It is much easier for citizens to accept religious institutions whose religious polices, goals, beliefs, doctrine, and rituals block any possibility of working with other religious faiths to secure the unity necessary to make positive changes.

Reason three-It is much easier for citizens to choose and allow self-gratification, obesity, and ignorance to become habitual and ingrained in daily lives instead of choosing goals that bring enlightenment followed by respect for self, dignity, and opportunity to advance their quality of life.

Reason four-It is much easier for a majority of world citizens to forgo the knowledge, training, experience and empowerment necessary to achieve world peace.

Reason five-Citizens neglect enlightening and training their children how to survive in a corrupt environment. Even less intelligent animals prepare their young to survive in a hostile environment. Children today need to recognize the harm that exists in their immediate family and personal relationships. Children must be taught that dangers exist in their government, education, and religious institutions. Children must be taught to recognize and protect themselves from pedophiles, sadists, and rapists released from prisons into their neighborhoods. Children must be conditioned to survive assaults that will likely occur in their lifetime. Child early survival training is missing in a society that no longer places child welfare above benefits of their advanced technology, social functions, and professional advancement. Self-centered hobbies and sports activities contribute to this critical issue.

Fourth Obstacle- The continuing departure from the United States Constitution by citizens, government, religious, and education leaders is a betrayal of all the principles it stands for. The United States Constitution, a constitutional republic form of government, was the greatest form of government ever created by humans. The Founding Fathers wisdom and creativity was a sum total of all the knowledge and wisdom formed by past Founding Fathers of all nations. The United States, once a beacon of light for all nations, has rendered itself dysfunctional as Constitution requirements and principals continue to decline. United States Citizens and leaders have cast aside the Constitution and its principles in favor of addictive partisan politics that divide the nation into two camps feasting on the nation’s flesh.

 

World freedom, prosperity, and peace are possible. Evolution has provided the necessary human and natural resources. Humans have the innate skills necessary to achieve these goals. Now, the sunshine side of human nature must show that it can dominate the dark side. Success is dependent on world citizen enlightenment and motivation.

The purpose of this Website is to identify global fault lines, ideas, proven principles, and proposed paths by which world citizens can be motivated to strive for a future that can bring freedom, prosperity, and peace. My intent is to motivate the reader to pursue study, analyze, and become enlightened. The world needs knowledgeable citizens that can stand independent of all institutions and adhere to proven principles while making personal and national decisions that promote the common welfare of all world citizens. This is the model necessary for the development of enlightened children that can survive in a competitive global world. 

My intent is to establish a sound platform for understanding how critical it is that you personally understand the true state of our nation and our world. If I fail in this effort, my recommendation is that you use your closest library to seek books that address national and world issues. Read, read, and read what a variety of historians, journalists, and knowledgeable specialists have to say. Only by comparing their views can you see a clearer and more accurate picture. Do not stake your personal integrity and beliefs on media, political parties, or religious institutions. They almost always have an agenda that is not in your best interest or the interest of our nation and our future. If they were our nation wouldn't be in this shape. Be continually in search of news sources you can trust. The issues are deep and complex. I hope this book can be helpful.

United States-A Model for Peace:

What citizen would oppose freedom, prosperity and peace? Why does this goal seem impossible to achieve? The acceptance of the United States Constitution, a Constitutional Republic,promised freedom, prosperity, and peace. The Founding Fathers hoped this Constitutional Republicif followed, would spread across the world. But now, the common welfare of the nation is not being served due to several factors: First, political parties choose party supremacy above the common welfare of the nation. Second, citizens and students are not required to be knowledgeable of their government, understand its functions, and be qualified to participate in it. Third, both political parties conspire to violate critical constitutional principles in order to secure their political base and special interests.

In this twenty first century, with all the challenges it brings, it is increasingly important that United States and world citizens understand a constitutional republic form of government and its advantages. There are three primary documents used to inform citizens. These documents are: The United States Constitution, the Federalist Papers, and The Making of America-The Substance and Meaning of the Constitution [Created over 40 years by the National Center for Constitutional Studies]. Funding for NCCS is provided by private contributions. Eleven of the contributors were respected Utah families. The study concluded that our American type of government would not function efficiently, and perhaps might not even survive, if the people did not maintain a constant vigilance and thereby develop what Jefferson called an intelligent and informed electorate. He was right. Surveys by the Pew Research Center and the CATO Institute reflect that, on most issues, the majority of citizens are not only ignorant about policy issues, but also about the basic structure of government, citizen responsibility, and their role in holding government accountable.

Before we address what a constitutional republic form of government is, I think we should understand just what an amazing body of work it is, its impact on a new nation, and the rest of the world. The United States Founding Fathers had the following comments about the Constitution:

John Adams: “[The Constitution] is…the greatest single effort of national deliberation that the world has ever seen.”

Madison: “The real wonder is that so many difficulties should have been surmounted [in the federal convention], and surmounted with a unanimity almost as unprecedented as it must have been unexpected. It is impossible for any man of candor to reflect on this circumstance without partaking of the astonishment. It is impossible for the man of pious reflection not to perceive in it a finger of that Almighty hand which has been so frequently and signally extended to our relief in the critical stages of the revolution.”

Washington: “The Constitution…approaches nearer to perfection than any government hitherto instituted among men.”

Benjamin Franklin: “I have so much faith in the general government of the world by Providence that I can hardly conceive a transaction of such momentous importance [as the framing of the Constitution]…should be suffered to pass without being in some degree influenced, guided, and governed by that omnipotent, omnipresent, and beneficent Ruler in whom all inferior spirits live and move and have their being.”

Jefferson: “May you and your contemporaries…preserve inviolate [the] Constitution, which, cherished in all its chastity and purity, will prove in the end a blessing to all the nations of the earth.”

These are but a few of the accolades spoken about the birth of the Constitution. Looking back from the twenty-first century to the Federal Convention of 1787, reality shows the United States failed to follow the Constitution and its primary principles.

The Founding Father’s belief that the Constitution was destined to bless all mankind never came to pass. This book will attempt to show why, how we failed, and what we must do to secure the future.

Constitutional Republic:

The United States Founding Fathers had a national and global vision for the future. Their vision was formed by their knowledge of ancient world governments and their struggle to free their citizens from bondage. Their vision was a government that would provide freedom, prosperity, and peace for a young nation on a new continent. Their vision, translated to action, led to a Constitutional Republic that provided freedom, prosperity, and peace. A constitutional republic form of government is defined as follows:

  • A constitutional republic is a form of government where the head of state and other officials are elected as representatives of the people. They must govern according to existing constitutional law that limits the government’s power over citizens.

  • In a constitutional republic executive, legislative, and judicial powers are separated into distinct branches and the will of the majority of the population is tempered by protections for individual rights so that no individual or group has absolute power.

  • The fact that a constitution exists that limits the government’s power makes the stateconstitutional.

  • The fact that the head(s) of state and other officials are chosen by election, rather than inheriting their positions, and that their decisions are subject to judicial review makes a state republican.

  • John Adams defined a constitutional republic as “a government of laws, and not of men.” A constitutional republic requires checks and balances to prevent abuse of power.

  • Constitutional republics are a deliberate attempt to diminish the perceived threat of majoritarianism, thereby protecting dissenting individuals and minority groups from the “tyranny of the majority” by placing checks on the power of the majority of the population. The power of the majority of the people is checked by limiting that power to electing representatives who are required to legislate with limits of overarching constitutional law that a simple majority cannot modify.

  • The power of government officials is checked by not allowing any single individual to hold executive, legislative, and judicial powers. Instead these powers are separated into distinct branches that serve as a check and balance on each other. A constitutional republic is designed so that “no person or group [can] rise to absolute power.

  • A constitutional republic requires an intelligent and informed electorate to maintain constant vigilance and hold the government accountable to constitutional laws and principles. 

The Constitution can and must be amended to require that all schools, colleges, and universities teach and certify that each citizen is knowledgeable of the struggle our Founding Fathers endured in order to declare their independence, fight for the rights of a fledgling nation, and establish a Constitutional Republic that secured freedom, prosperity, and peace. Our national political, education, and religious leaders have intentionally denied citizens this Constitutional requirement. Citizens cannot comply with Constitutional Republic responsibilities if they are illiterate in regard to their responsibilities.

A decision to return to the principles and requirements of a Constitutional Republic form of government requires careful thought and preparation. Any transition must preserve those government functions that have value while maintaining the stability of our nation. Success is dependent on knowledge of past world government strengths and weaknesses, sound reasoning, and planning. Reason and a sound plan is dependent on: 1-Commitment, 2-Purpose for engagement, 3-Priorities (time, principles, economics, and propriety), 4-Resources required (human and natural), 5-Consequences of success (near and long term effects and benefits), 6-What constitutes success? Attaining freedom, prosperity, and peace while preserving Constitutional principles.

Founding Fathers Cautions:

Jefferson: “I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”

Jefferson: “Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories. And to render even them safe, their minds must be improved to a certain degree.”

Jefferson: “To inform the minds of the people and to follow their will is the chief duty of those placed at their head.”

Jefferson: “[A] people [can become] so demoralized and depraved as to be incapable of exercising a wholesome control….Their minds [are] to be informed by education what is right and what wrong, to be encouraged in habits of virtue and deterred from those of vice by the dread of punishments, proportioned, indeed, but irremissible; in all cases, to follow truth as the only safe guide and to eschew error, which bewilders us in one false consequence after another in endless succession.”

Jefferson: “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. The functionaries of every government have propensities to command at will the liberty and property of their constituents.”

George Washington: “Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all. Religion and morality enjoin this conduct; and can it be that good policy does not equally enjoin it. It will be worthy of a free, enlightened, and, at no distant period, a great nation to give to mankind the magnanimous and too novel example of a people always guided by and exalted justice and benevolence.”

 

Jefferson: “The firmness with which the people have withstood the late abuses of the press, the discernment they have manifested between truth and falsehood, show that they may safely be trusted to hear everything true and false, and to form a correct judgment between them.”

There Will be no Freedom, Prosperity, and Peace Without Principles

The Founding Fathers created a government masterpiece called a Constitutional Republic. This miracle encompassed 286 principles and was the culmination of years of world struggle for human rights. The Founding Father’s achievement delivered the first structured form of government that provided freedom, prosperity, and peace for United States Citizens. Unfortunately, as time passed the United States government and its citizens chose a path of partisanship that shredded Constitutional Principles, divided our nation, and rendered it dysfunctional. Ignoring critical priorities led us down this path. Our priorities define who we are and what we stand for.

Principles, morality, and propriety are the foundation of all forms of government. Perfection is never expected and can never be achieved. However, a population that views its government as morally corrupt is in serious trouble.

History refers to “ancient principles” as the golden nuggets. The Founding Fathers were outstanding world scholars and well read. Their knowledge of world history prepared them for that giant leap we know as the Constitution. Hamilton wrote, “It was a thing hardly to be expected that in a popular revolution the minds of men should stop at that happy mean which marks the salutary boundary between POWER and PRIVILEGE, and combines the energy of government with the security of private rights”

W. Cleon Skousen wrote, “America can be ‘the Peacemaker of the world.’ She can help other nations discover the formula for freedom and prosperity. But there is an important prerequisite: Americans must first rediscover that formula for themselves, as it is embodied in the 286 principles found in the Constitution”

Clinton Rossiter, wrote, “no happiness without liberty, no liberty without self-government, no self-government without constitutionalism, no constitutionalism without morality-and none of these great goods without stability and order.”

How Political Parties use Politics to Circumvent the Constitution

United States political parties use liberal versus conservative philosophies to identify themselves. As needed they use extreme right and extreme left party members and media extremists to divide the nation. When politics requires a softer approach they call for the moderates from each party. It’s a skillful strategy to keep the people divided and the nation dysfunctional. This strategy is possible because 80-90 percent of citizens are illiterate in regard to their Constitution and current government functions. Reference Pew Research Center and Cato Institute surveys concerning citizen awareness. This condition is traceable to government, education, and religious leaders that see no need for children and adults to be grounded in the founding and development of a Constitution that defines government functions and citizen responsibilities.

James Madison: “America united, with a handful of troops, or without a single soldier, exhibits a more forbidding posture to foreign ambition than America disunited, with a hundred thousand veterans ready for combat…. A dangerous establishment can never be necessary or plausible, so long as they continue a united people.”

Democrat and Republican citizen debates are a reflection of the public debates taking place between their respective political leaders and the media. What citizens must realize is that public debates between political leaders and the media are staged for citizen consumption. Citizens are rarely exposed to the real complexities of critical issues and how they should be resolved in the best interest and common welfare of the nation as a whole. This opens a huge hole that allows politicians and special interests to benefit themselves. As many citizens now realize, our nation has become dysfunctional.

The United States Founding Fathers were the geniuses that created the American political system. We call it a Constitution and it is a constitutional republic form of government. The Founding Father’s genius was that they were enlightened. Being enlightened translates to wisdom, experience, and judgment, and includes knowledge of history and all forms of past and present governments. The world today lacks this quality of leadership.

The United States growth of government is driven by state and citizen failure to assume their Constitutional responsibilities and their reluctance to take responsibility for meeting state and local needs. The nation’s citizens elected representatives that wrote and approved the legislature creating big government and so called social programs. Citizens might consider asking themselves why they selected, elected, and continued to support representatives that allowed the growth of national government and its intrusion in their lives. Citizens might consider taking the initiative to renounce divisive political parties, unify, and construct the government they claim to want. The Constitution, if citizens knew it, gave them that responsibility. Citizens now face the following challenges identified by the Founding Fathers:

Thomas Jefferson gave the following advice to Congress: “I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves: and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”

Thomas Jefferson also warned citizens against allowing power to concentrate in Washington: “When all government, domestic and foreign, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated.”

From: The Declaration of Independence: But when a long train of abuses and usurpation, pursuing invariable the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

Iredell: “Should the government, on trial, be found to want amendments, those amendments can be made in a regular method, in a mode prescribed by the Constitution itself…We have this security, in addition to the natural watchfulness of the people, which I hope will never be found wanting.”

John Hamilton: “the Constitution was designed to provide a “divided, balanced, limited” government so that it would remain in the center of the political spectrum and not drift toward anarchy of tyranny.”

James Madison: “Frequent elections are unquestionably the only policy by which this dependence and sympathy can be effectually secured….It is a received and well founded maxim that where no other circumstances affect the case, the greater the power is, the shorter ought to be its duration: and, conversely, the smaller the power, the more safely many it’s duration be protracted.”

Becoming a welfare state:

Samuel Adams: “The utopian schemes of leveling [re-distribution of the wealth] and a community of goods [central ownership of all the means of production and distribution] are as visionary and impracticable as those which vest all property in the Crown. [These ideas] are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government, unconstitutional.”

Benjamin Franklin: “to relieve the misfortunes of our fellow creatures is concurring with the Deity, it is godlike; but, if we provide encouragement for laziness, and supports for folly, may we not be found fighting against the order of god and Nature….”

However, the Founding Fathers had a deep concern for the poor and needy. 

  1. Allow the poor to climb the “appreciation ladder” –from tents to cabins, cabins to cottages, and cottages to comfortable houses.

  1. Where emergency help is provided, do not prolong it to the point where it becomes habitual.

  1. Strictly enforce the scale of “fixed responsibility.” The first and foremost level of responsibility is with the individual himself; the second level is the family; then the church; next the community; finally the county, and, in a disaster or emergency, the state. Under no circumstances was the federal government to become involved in public welfare. The Founders felt it would corrupt the government and also the poor. No constitutional authority exists for the federal government to participate in so-called social welfare programs.

  1. Do not completely care for the needy-merely help them to help themselves.

  1. Give the poor the satisfaction of “earned achievement” instead of rewarding them without achievement.

Betraying its heritage;

United States Citizens, in general, have little confidence in their political parties and elected officials. Also, it appears United States Politicians have little confidence in citizens understanding and judgment. I think it reasonable to say that the state of the United States and the world is alarming. What does the future hold for United States and World Citizens? At this stage the future of World Citizens may be dependent on whether the United States can rise above existing political differences, unify around a twenty-first century constitutional republic form of government and fulfill the Founding Fathers vision for a world constitutional republic form of government.

United States Betrayal of the Constitution:

The Founding Fathers clearly stated those conditions that would lead to betrayal of the United States Constitution. Listen to their voices:

Thomas Jefferson: “When all government, domestic and foreign, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated.”

Samuel Adams: “ But neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt.”

When the Founding Fathers established the United States Constitution they also set in place huge expectations for citizens. These expectations exceeded all previous government and citizen expectations. The Founding Fathers’ ultimate expectation was that world governments would unite under an encompassing world constitutional republic. Then all world citizens could strive and attain freedom, prosperity, and peace.

Having embraced the Constitution, the United States of America experienced the birth of a nation and became a government of the people. The preamble set forth six magnificent objectives that the founders intended:

We, the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The United States had the potential to meet all Constitutional principles and expectations. The success of the Constitution was dependent on all power and authority belonging to the people.

Thomas Jefferson: “I consider the people who constitute a society or nation as the source of all authority in that nation.”

Two things happened as the years passed:

Citizens never assumed their Constitution responsibilities.

Thomas Jefferson: "Every government degenerates when trussted to the rulers of the people alone"

Government, education, and religious leaders failed to educate and hold citizens accountable for fulfilling their role as the source of all government authority.

Thomas Jefferson: “I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”


As time passed the dark side of human nature triumphed and principles were gradually shoved aside as self-gratification, apathy, greed, and power struggles prevailed. In The Making of America [Third edition, revised 2007] W. Cleon Skousen states: "America can be ‘The Peacemaker of the World.’ She can help other nations discover the formula for freedom and prosperity. But there is an important prerequisite: Americans must first rediscover that formula for themselves, as it is embodied in the 286 principles found in the Constitution. Of course, the first step to improvement and reform is education. The next step is action. The principles of the Constitution were not meant only to be studied, but to be applied. That, then, is our challenge today.”  The United States continues to reject this warning and the decline and betrayal of the United States is accelerating.

 

 

Government, religion, and education leaders are the principal drivers that determine and maintain national freedom, prosperity, and peace. These leaders, held accountable by citizens, are equally responsible for assuring that citizens are enlightened and competent enough to choose qualified and trustworthy leaders. The State of our Union reflects we are not meeting these qualifications. Our leaders and citizens are wrapped in a cloak of darkness where ignorance, apathy, self-gratification, despair, and denial flourish. We must correct this condition by enlightenment thru education and the acceptance of those principles defined by a constitutional republic form of government. We must reclaim the Constitution.

Enlightenment-What a World Citizen Must Know Evolutionary processes, driven by a universal mystery, evolved primitive man and bestowed innate skills that allowed humans to question the source and meaning of life. Primitive man proceeded to create his own gods and rituals to represent the source of his being. As humans progressed they developed newer gods, doctrines, and rituals. Today, religious institutions still have and exercise enormous spiritual and political power around the world. The competitive and combative nature of differing religions is a major cause of continued world conflict and chaos. The belief that God created humans differs from those that believe humans are a product of evolution. Quality life represents our ability to function and organize our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions. Perception of both parties poses critical issues:

There is the reality issue. Those believing in creation of humankind have one perception of the world and those believing that evolution evolved humans have a different perception of the world.

World power shifts as believers and non-believers clash and wreak havoc with life and the environment.

Scientific advances continue to unravel the mysteries of the universe and life processes. The scientific argument for evolution enforces the need to follow this path into the future. Major shifts in religious institutions increase rapidly as religious leaders bend doctrine to fit advances in science.

Why not organize our selves and become a part of the microcosmic order of our universe and act responsibly to safeguard the future? We must become receptive to safeguarding traditions and socially proven realities and stop fueling destructive growth.

Pursuing the following path will enable world citizens to engage the real world and become enlightened citizens with the opportunity to influence forces that determine the future:

Step one: Accepting that the universe is composed of energy changing form and that humankind is one fleeting form of that energy.

Step two: Locating oneself in relation to the universe and planet earth and recognizing that you are the product of a planet embedded in a vast universe of energy changing form.

Step three: Accept the responsibility of being a caretaker of the environment and all life.

Step four: The gifts of reason and imagination, planning and organizing, and designing and building structures are all we need to achieve global freedom, prosperity, and peace. These gifts must be nurtured, tested, and used to gain knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment

Step five: As James Madison stated, “As there is a degree of depravity in mankind which requires a certain degree of circumspection and distrust, so there are other qualities in human nature which justify a certain portion of esteem and confidence.” A constitutional republic form of government, with checks and balances, is designed to guard the government from citizen excesses and to guard citizens from government excesses. Both governments and citizens are responsible to hold the other accountable.

Step six: Become an independent thinker and rise above and beyond political parties, educators, religious institutions, and media. Learn to think for yourself. But, first you must enlighten yourself. That takes a deliberative mind in search of ones potential. The Founding Fathers acquired this knowledge thru their life experiences and studies. Before developing the Constitution the Founding Fathers were first students of world affairs and existing governments. Their engagements as businessmen, soldiers, and politicians gave them a philosopher’s view of the world. By recognizing human weaknesses they were able to devise Constitution checks and balances that protect the nation from human weaknesses.

Step eight: Orient yourself in relation to your universal environment and your relationship to fellow travelers. This requires becoming enlightened and open to all your senses. Only then do you have an opportunity to influence the world around you.

Step nine: Become knowledgeable of the meaning and responsibility of a constitutional republic form of government. This must be the path you choose to follow. United States political, education, and religious leaders decided to withhold Constitution studies from our schools, colleges, and universities. Therefore, if we want to be informed citizens, capable of interacting with our government, we must become self-educated and knowledgeable of how government functions. Only then will we earn our self-respect and government leaders respect. Becoming informed citizens begins with the study and understanding of the following: United States Constitution-A constitutional republic form of government. The Federalist Papers, and The Making of America-The substance and Meaning of the Constitution, W. Cleon Skousen.

America can be ”the Peacemaker of the world.” She can help other nations discover the formula for freedom and prosperity, but, there is an important prerequisite: Americans must first rediscover that formula for themselves, as it is embodied in the 286 principles found in the constitution. and The Federalist Papers-Alexander Hamilton, James Hamilton, and John Jay. People’s Law-Until the eighth century A.D., the Anglo-Saxons still practiced a system designed to preserve and protect the unalienable rights of the people and at the same time provided a divided, balanced, and limited form of government.

Ruler’s Law- In A.D. 1066 the Normans imposed on the English a system of Ruler’s Law that destroyed the rights of the people.

Magna Charta-On June 15, 1215 the people united and compelled King John to sign the Magna Charta, which returned to the people many of the rights the conquerors had stolen. Evolution of Parliamentary Power-The parliamentary government began to develop around 1265, and this gradually developed into a legislative voice to represent the desires of the people. Parliamentary Supremacy-England established a limited monarchy with a parliamentary system of government that allowed the legislature to exercise practically unlimited power.

The Articles of confederation and State Supremacy-1619 the English colonies asserted their inalienable rights of self-government under the Declaration of Independence.

Constitutional Supremacy- A constitutional republic form of government with rights for the individual.

The Founding Fathers believed this constitutional republic form of government would be exported around the world. However, the United States found that the Constitution and related principles interfered with political interests and found it convenient to disregard the Constitution and its principles. Today, the United States is the most powerful economic and military power in the world. Now, the United States has an opportunity to return to a constitutional republic form of government and related principles. Only then will the United States be that leader that can bring about a global constitutional republic with ageless principals.

Criteria for Selecting Leaders:

United States process of selecting, nominating, and electing national leaders is flawed. As we enter the twenty-first century, the selection of leaders must be based on criteria that assures enlightened leaders are qualified for the offices they fill. Selecting competent leaders to manage government, religious, and education institutions requires matching leadership, vision, and technology skills to each critical position being filled. Failing to do so is why our nation is increasingly dysfunctional. This will not change without citizens and their children becoming enlightened and that process must begin now. The following criteria should apply when selecting government leaders for elective offices.

  • Degree of Enlightenment- based on education, experience, performance, and character.

  • Liberal Arts Degree in National and International Government Studies

  • Satisfactory interpersonal relationships with family, friends, and co-workers.Public records reflecting that background check revealed no convictions, felonies, or sexual deviate history.

  • Meet required qualifications for office being pursued.

  • Formally pass an Enlightened Citizens Election Review Board

    These requirements are critical and will require Congress to pass the necessary legislation. An Enlightened Citizens Election Review Board is intended to begin the indoctrination of citizens seeking to become participative in their government and willing to take responsibility as defined by the Constitution and the Founding Fathers.

What Role Must Citizens Play in Transitioning to a Twenty-first Century Constitution?

Citizens come in shades of darkness and light. Each citizen seeks a path leading to self-fulfillment. Some march a quiet path. Some seek heights that brand them as artists, poets, leaders, and even genius status. Perilous paths bring out the dark side of human nature. Survival on a narrow path is treacherous. Many fall off and never recover. A constitutional republic form of government is designed to keep nations on a path that secures freedom, prosperity, and peace. This path has checks and balances that shield us from the dark side of human nature. All nations must seek and secure this path, or a similar path, if civilization is to meet it’s potential.

Thomas Jefferson: “We owe every other sacrifice to ourselves, to our federal brethren, and to the world at large to pursue with temper and perseverance the great experiment which shall prove that man is capable of living in [a] society governing itself by laws self-imposed, and securing to its members the enjoyment of life, liberty, property, and peace; and further, to show that even when the government of its choice shall manifest a tendency to degeneracy, we are not at once to despair, but that the will and the watchfulness of its sounder parts will reform its aberrations, recall it to original and legitimate principles, and restrain it within the rightful limits of self-government.”

All nations face near and long term twenty-first century challenges that threaten their future. These world challenges require citizens and leaders to forge a governing process that brings freedom, prosperity, and peace. This goal requires a governing process that strengthens the positive side of human nature and shields humankind from the dark side of human nature. The history of nations show a need for a form of government that, if followed, leads to freedom, prosperity, and peace. A constitutional republic form of government fills that need. Now we must take that final step and free the world from self inflicted conflict and chaos. Meeting this expectation is within our grasp.

Benefits of a Global Constitutional Republic:

A global constitutional republic achieves the same benefits that the thirteen colonies gained when they ratified their Constitutional Republic. Establishing a global constitutional republic will be enormously difficult given the cultural, religious, and political divides that exist. The dark and light nature of humankind is in a struggle for dominance and the dark side is winning. Enlightened world citizens are too few to tip the scale in a positive direction. A universal education program is world citizen’s highest priority. See Chapter One, Enlightenment, for the development of enlightenment processes. The following benefits are necessary:

The attainment of a higher order of civilization than mankind has ever known.

A unity of nations striving for universal freedom, prosperity, and peace is a giant step into the future. Enlightened humankind on a common path to the future.

A unity of world nations working toward common goals can conserve vital human and natural resources needed to meet natural and man made challenges.

A unity of world nations with no tolerance for genocide, terror, weapons of mass destruction, and starvation.

A unity of world nations staffed, provisioned, and trained to respond to man made disasters and the whims of nature.

A unity of world nations exploring the universe and prepared to face those universal events that threaten life.

A unity of nations striving to inform world citizens they are responsible for holding governments and themselves accountable to principles held sacred.

A unity of nations granting religious freedom to all world citizens and requiring separation of church and state.

The ancient principles of all nations melded into one united World Nations. One civilization based on principles that sustain all mankind.

A universal dedication to the common welfare of all humanity.

A sense of hope for world citizens.

Humanity freed to build a civilization where the sunny side of human nature dominates the dark side.

Individual nations retain the advantage of local self-government.

Global Role Models:

The United States can be that beacon of light for all nations provided it can overcome national divisiveness, salvage a dysfunctional government, and motivate citizens to work together to hold government and themselves accountable to an abandoned constitution and principles.

International Fault Lines:

World fault lines must be recognized, understood, and managed in order to establish functional constitutional republic forms of government. Critical fault lines are identified as follows:

  • The masses plea for freedom, prosperity, and peace is silenced by citizen empowered political and religious leaders who recognize that the masses lack the will or incentive to organize and bond around goals that lead to freedom, prosperity, and peace. The political, religious, and special interests use their power and influence to divide the nation. The masses must never be allowed to become empowered. This is accomplished by keeping the masses entertained, drugged, physically unfit, and totally dependent on their political party, faith, and their job. This of course leads to diminishing principles, lack of self-esteem, and eventually submission to the state. At this stage there is no fiscal responsibility, corruption and crime explodes, and world chaos and conflict is unlimited. This is exactly where we are today.

  • Elected representatives sworn to promote the common welfare of citizens continue to make decisions based on personal, political, religious, and special interests.

  • Political, religious, and education leaders fail to incorporate required learning curriculum that would make citizens knowledgeable of their Founding Fathers, their Constitution, and their responsibility. Today, a majority of citizens have no concept of their responsibility to participate in their government or how to hold their government accountable to Constitutional requirements and principles.

  • The very foundation of a constitutional republic is based on the premise that capable, knowledgeable, and active citizens would hold elected representatives accountable to constitution principles and the common welfare of world citizens.

  • National and global challenges exist. These challenges require a unity of nations working together. Combining human and natural resources insures meeting challenges. World citizens must recognize that no single nation, acting alone, can meet near and long term national and global challenges.

  • Citizen lack of education is a fault line. Citizens define themselves by their sources of knowledge. Wise men say that the best knowledge cannot be told, the second best knowledge is misunderstood, and the third is daily conversation.
  • Fiscal irresponsibility.

  • Consensus of world climate experts is terrifying. Paul Krugman, The New York Times,states, “At this point, the central forecast of leading climate models-not the worst-case scenario but the most likely outcome-is utter catastrophe, a rise in temperatures that will totally disrupt life as we know it, if we continue along our present path.”

  • Political, education, and religious leaders fear to be honest with illiterate American citizens.

  • The United States is the major magnet for drug trafficking.

  • Genocide continues around the world.

  • Pornography accelerating and pedophilia spreading thru all levels of society.

  • United States Citizens cowardly demonstrate their willingness to subject young warriors and their families to multiple combat tours that assures post-traumatic stress disorder. United States government, religious institutions, and citizens see no need to share in their sacrifice, If, that were necessary all wars would have been postponed. RAND Corp. reported in a study: “Not only is a higher proportion of the armed forces being deployed, but deployments have been longer, redeployment to combat has been common, and breaks between deployments have been infrequent.” Other studies have paralleled RAND studies in spotlighting the psychic toll of these wars.

Twenty First Century Global Challenges Priorities:

Our Founding Fathers realized that thirteen colonies going their separate ways would always assure conflict, and chaos. In this twenty-first century single nations acting alone assures conflict and chaos.

It is time to establish a functional twenty first century constitutional republic with checks and balances that assure adherence to defined principles and meets the intent of our Founding Fathers. What citizen would oppose a functional twenty first century constitutional republic that restores freedom, prosperity and peace? This is an achievable goal citizens must impose on a dysfunctional government. Why would this goal be difficult to achieve? The Founding Fathers were realistic about human nature. James Madison stated, “As there is a degree of depravity in mankind which requires a certain degree of circumspection and distrust, so there are other qualities in human nature which justify a certain portion of esteem and confidence.” [Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, The Federalist Papers (New York: Mentor Books, 1961), No.55]

The twenty-first century begins with a dysfunctional United States and a dysfunctional civilization, in which no nation working independently can hope to meet near or long term national and global challenges. However, there is hope. World nations, independent, and united around a twenty first century international constitutional republic can gain freedom, prosperity, and peace. Being united allows conservation of human and natural resources needed to meet near and long term national and global challenges. Being united, with the right checks and balances, assures the integrity of international governments and the principles of a constitutional republic. This may be the only path to world freedom, prosperity and peace.

The writer’s intent is to explore and understand global societies and how they relate to one another. Given this understanding, new paths may open to enhance the prospect of achieving universal freedom, prosperity, and peace.

Choosing a Future Path to Follow:

Before we face global challenges we must recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the dark and light side of human nature. World citizens must minimize the dark side. Then, we must gain an understanding of why we leave behind our principles and spiritual expectations and succumb to the dark side, Only then can we decide which path we choose to travel.

Next, we must ask and answer some critical questions that will decide the future of civilization. First, is humanity stable enough to achieve and maintain a form of world government that assures freedom, prosperity, and peace? Second, do we expect a myriad of religious institutions to have any significant effect on guiding governments or people to achieve freedom, prosperity, and peace? Third, what can we citizens do to unify and inspire world citizens to be caretakers of the environment and life forms? Why is it that the Constitution and God's expectations are so easily dismissed.?

Analysis of Civilization:

Qualified citizens would be wise to conduct an in-depth analysis of the State of Civilization. Now is the time. Capable world citizens must go to the most remote and dense regions and concentrate on how they will be affected, over time, by the ebb and flow of human traffic and the environment. Particular attention must be paid to the impact of civilization on high traffic arteries. The world must know in advance those human and environmental challenges that must be met. Making critical world challenges comprehensible to world citizens can unite and inspire them to work together to preserve our planet. Knowing the state of civilization allows us to plan to meet challenges.

Global Challenges Defined by Priority:

First: A Universal Mission Statement defining policies and goals for establishing and implementing constitutional republic forms of government.

Second: Establish and implement an Enlightenment program that educates and empowers world citizens to participate in forming a constitutional republic government.

Third: Set Human and Environmental Standards that promote the health of all world citizens.

Fourth: Establish and Implement Global Education Program that enlightens children and prepares them to participate in government processes designed to assure freedom, prosperity, and peace.

 

When will we know we are returning to a constitutional republic path? The signs are as follows. First, we will know when we see political parties acting as one in a common setting for the common welfare of our nation. Second, when united religious institutions become independent of government and work effectively together to become a force for raising the morality of a nation whose principles have declined. Third, when government, education and religious institutions work together to define mandatory curriculum that certifies students are knowledgeable of their Constitution, related principles, and responsibilities as citizens. Chapter Ten, Enlightenment, identifies what citizens must know and understand if they are to be responsible citizens capable of participating in the development of legislature, holding their government and themselves accountable to the Constitution, and related principles.

That Final Step:

Humankind’s ultimate goal is the establishment of a Universal Constitutional Republic that brings freedom, prosperity, and peace to all world citizens. This will be the moment that all spiritual and human expectations have been met.

The potential empowerment of world citizens, to make decisions concerning their future, is influenced by their politics, nationality, religion, and culture. In restrictive environments the twenty first century is in need of patriot leaders and citizens having the stature of Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr.,Mahatma Gandhi, and many others.

Mahatma Gandhi brought freedom to India:

Due to early influence by nonviolent teachings in Hinduism, Christianity, and Buddhism, he came to insist on the primacy of love for one’s adversary in any conflict as the invincible power for change. He fearlessly courted suffering and imprisonment in support of his moral vision. His unyielding opposition to intolerance and oppression inspired India like no leader since the Buddha. Gandhi’s legacy encouraged Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and other global leaders to demand a better world through peaceful civil disobedience. Martin Luther King spoke for the rights of black citizens thru nonviolence:

"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation of their character. I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor’s lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers."

Nelson Mandela:

Nelson was a courageous man who followed the most difficult course any person could choose to follow. He challenged white people because he felt that what they were doing was morally wrong. He showed a level of courage and sacrifice that was in a class by itself. He chose the long and hard road to freedom and traveled it with courage and dignity. Nelson served as an example to all that followed him. Nelson rejected the notion that political rights were to be determined by the color of our skins. An old African National Conference leader once explained it as follows:

“If you place the races of one country in two camps and cut off contact between them, those in each camp will begin to forget that those in the other are ordinary human beings, that each lives and laughs the same way, that each experiences joy or sorrow, pride or humiliation for the same reasons. Thereby each becomes suspicious of the other and each eventually fears the other which is the basis of all racism.”

Mac Maharaja speaking of Nelson Mandela:

All of us are shaped in one way or another by the lives we lead, and it is the struggle that has made Madiba what he is. Today, Nelson Mandela is perceived as an icon. He is seen as the hope for the future at a time when politics has become a dirty word, stripped of all morality and Machiavellian to its roots. Generations of young people around the world look to Madiba because they see him as the one person who symbolizes the possibility of bringing morality to the arena of politics. As we enter the twenty first Century these men stand like giants and are living legends and examples of what we should aspire to be. These men exceeded all expectations while emphasizing non-violence in the most violent period of world history. Can we do any less? Yet, we cast our values aside and choose a path of chaos and conflict over a path that leads to an end of conflict. And that’s why he remains the hope of this world.

Each made their share of mistakes. But, they were able to rise above their mistakes and weaknesses and stand by the principles and values that sustained and empowered them. United States Citizens should take a lesson from the experiences of these outstanding patriots.

These legendary leaders were not perfect in every respect. They had weaknesses and made their decisions based on the benefits of a Constitutional Republic:

Readers should ask what motivates the issues identified in this book. There is no one simple response. The single goal is to build constitutional republic nations with checks and balances that shift nations away from the dark side of human nature. The following hi-lights reflect a progression of events and experiences that shaped my beliefs, principals, and views of the world.

  • An adult environment that provided security and nurturing.

  • A safe environment that allowed endless freedom to daydream, roam and explore forests, rivers, and mountains, with minimum adult supervision, thru the teenage years.

  • Neighborhoods with few known dangerous elements and schools free from drugs, crime, and abuse.

  • An environment free from the deluge of massive technology that now absorbs every waking hour of our youths daydreaming, socializing, and developing years.

  • A media-free environment that allowed a youth to reach adult years before becoming aware that the adult world had chosen a path that politically divided the nation, violated constitutional responsibilities, and basic principles. This path made us a dysfunctional nation and fiscally and morally irresponsible. Our children must be allowed to develop emotionally and intellectually so they are prepared to cope, compete, and participate in this dysfunctional world and hopefully be a generation that can shape a better world.

Constitution Erosion:

The United States Constitution and inherent principles began to erode as technology accelerated. Specific causes for this erosion are identified as follows:

  • The Founding Fathers lived in a world of few distractions. Their lives were consumed with their studies, professions, and their desire for freedom from tyranny. These struggles and their understanding of world government weaknesses and deficiencies gave them the vision and opportunity to establish a new form of government on a new continent. 

  • The human brain is the ultimate achievement of evolution. The growth and ultimate potential of the human brain has yet to be realized. But, exploding technology driven by scientific advances may be a threat to all humankind. The healthy growth and maturation of world children requires a natural and nurturing environment. A polluted environment and an uncontrolled exploding technological world driven by scientific advances threaten the natural development of children’s minds and bodies. When the brain is bombarded on a daily basis, with noise and distraction, there is too little room for normal growth. Everyone knows the media, television, and phones, along with a multitude of other devices, has a deteriorating effect on our daily lives. Obesity and deprivation compounds an already critical environment.

The greatest challenge a world citizen faces is to secure and maintain an environment that assures the proper nurturing and care of children. These children are our future leaders and they require time to grow and mature in a principled and disciplined society. The development of their physical and mental health requires living balanced lives in the company of mature adults that demonstrate how life should be lived and enjoyed. Humankind is currently on a path that abandons their young for a technology driven world and self-gratification. We can meet this challenge and renew our humanity by revisiting our primitive path and observing how other animals instinctively nurture their young till they reach maturity and can care for themselves.

Societies and constitutional republic forms of government have expectations for both citizens and leaders. Only those that are severely handicapped are exempt. There must be a majority of enlightened citizens capable of choosing enlightened leaders if a constitutional republic form of government is to remain functional within constitutional and related principle requirements. Chapter One, Enlightenment, speaks to this issue.

Let me be clear about one thing. I will use any and all enabling ideas, thoughts, and concepts that I think enlightens and empowers the reader. This book is driven by the need to provide world citizens a path by which they can transition a dysfunctional civilization to a functional civilization that uplifts humankind and ends conflict and chaos. My assessment of how life evolved, currently lives, and will live in the future is summed up as follows:

  • I believe there exists an unknown universal force that powers the universe. I see no evidence to believe this mysterious force interferes in the conflict and chaos humans inflict on themselves and the environment as they struggle to choose between the dark or light side of human nature.

  • I believe evolution has given humankind every innate gift necessary to become the caretaker of the planet and all life. However, humans choose and embrace the dark side of human nature. Eventually, evolution may resolve this imbalance through enlightenment of world citizens.

  • Unused evolutionary gifts grow dim and fade away. Evolution evolved an expanding brain over time and gave gifts that can be lost by a highly driven technological society that allows lazy minds to diminish brain capacity, principles, disciplines, and reasoning.

Every one has the ability, responsibility, and potential to participate in shaping a world free of conflict and chaos. Humankind quest for answers to the mystery of creation continues. This quest may change direction as science continues to reveal the macro and micro functions of the universe. As the children of each nation begin to see each other as brothers and sisters of one planet we can begin to bond together to face and solve common global challenges. Most of these children, if properly taught at home and in schools, will become enlightened citizens and outgrow partisan politics and divisive faiths that foster division, conflict and chaos.

The potential of this brain can ascend to the highest level of enlightenment and descend to the darkest depths of depravity instantaneously and intermittently.  History clearly shows humankind has alternated back and forth between these two extremes. Humankind has taken a tremendous leap since the emergence of primitive tribes. Today, humans cling too remnants of primitive cultures and startling advances in science. Advances in science and enlightenment provide a new understanding of this planet and universe-while many continue to cling to primitive concepts There is irony in the fact that the demise of this planet and existing life is insignificant in this infinite evolving energy field that creates and evolves myriads of universes-galaxies-planets, and life forms that include humans with brains. The question driving world societies is whether or not humankind can limit their extreme destruction of the environment and one another. The answer is absolutely yes, provided the extreme dark side of the human brain can be limited. That's the challenge facing humankind. Overtime, advancing human enlightenment may allow the worship of tribal Gods to transition to reverence for that mysterious force that drives this infinite evolving energy field that encompasses universes, galaxies, and matter beyond all categories of human thought. The potential of this brain we have inherited has yet to grasped. 
 
Enlightenment occurs as a function of reason, experience, and education. Other factors include cultures, religions, and degrees of freedom. Caution: Do not underestimate the ingenuity of primitive tribes through the rise of civilization. Today, our most talented specialists are realizing that primitive humans attained skills that astonish and puzzle this high tech world. For instance, our oldest global cathedrals design and fabrication is traceable to historic texts that reference architectural rules that must still be adhered too.

We live in a primitive tribal environment that embraces cruelty, conflict and genocide to dominate those of differing doctrines. As a child I worshiped, with my family, in one room country churches attended by local farmers and preachers. I loved and participated in worshiping and singing. Even today, I still revere and respect those  memories. Even then, I found it weird that they believed hell was created and imposed by this God they worshiped. Reason, still tells me God did not create the dark side of human nature. Today, this cultural and primitive religious environment drives a need to respect this mysterious creator of this infinite field of energy that encompasses all universes. Reason tells me humankind recognizes extreme destructive behavior and understands how to limit it- if we so desire. I was aware of  World Ware II, an existing depression, and a rural farm environment. Then, I stepped into an environment of endless wars and a career in aerospace-nuclear, combined with missiles and advances in space exploration. My sense of responsibility became the welfare of this planet and all fellow human beings. The future requires an advanced form of governing and an understanding of how a once primitive brain functions and evolves in this modern day technological world. As humankind continues to evolve we must recognize that commonality. Gradual enlightenment will allow all humans to realize that we have become a one planet family. This family can commit to a form of government and a quality of life that makes all equal and prepared to live in peace without extreme destructive behavior. Peace of mind and tranquility may come to humankind as they realize that the creator of this infinite field of energy expects humankind to be caretakers of his planet and one another. Beyond that the future will be determined by the whims of this infinite field of energy. 

This human brain thrusts humans on a path of science that envisions a level of heightened enlightenment. Science and technology is frighteningly close to crossing boundaries that enable humans to envision new universal concepts that illuminate, enlighten, and limit extreme self-destructive behavior. The goal is to moderate human behavior and sustain quality of life.

The science world declares the human brain is the singular crowning achievement of this infinite energy field.  Medical science studies are establishing processes that allow the brain to  be kept alive, archived, and used productively as a resource for future generations and space travelers. Science sees no boundaries that can't be breached with a backlog of preserved brains with unlimited potential. The exploration and development of space can be advanced as science develops advanced processes that can overcome the difficulty of limited energy, time, and human fragility. Mapping, preserving, and shaping the brain for space travel is on the horizon. The ability to preserve human brains for human drones, long distance space travel and settlements, may soon be a reality. The suitability of such a plan is questionable. Humankind must resolve this and many other critical challenges before that happens. That will take an aroused society assuming responsibility for themselves and the future of their children.

World citizens, welcome to the quest for Enlightenment. Our challenge is to identify and follow a path that leads to the enlightenment of a new generation. Our State of the World is the ultimate example of how nations have failed as caretakers of our planets environment and inhabitants.
The state of world nations demonstrates the extreme nature of an animal species we named Homo sapient-known as humans. Humans have exceeded the boundaries of depravity-science-art-communication-and the universe. Humans fail to live in harmony with all life and the natural environment-unlike other species we soil the environment. Self-gratification and worship of imagined gods are the motivating forces. Seeking and attaining enlightenment is the hope for the future. Enlightenment lies in human's ability to see beyond this mysterious and infinite field of energy field that sparked the creation of  all solar systems and beyond. Beyond these solar systems lies the unknowable God we seek. Looking back from beyond we visualize the significance of humans on a distant planet-a planet that fades as it's sun's energy dissapates and life ceases to exist-planet matter changing form. 
A constitutional republic form of government requires an enlightened electorate capable of establishing a Constitution and having the discipline to hold both leaders and themselves accountable. The United States lacks both. The Constitution we thought we had was and still is an illusion.  The future must bring a higher degree of education and enlightenment-an enlightenment that inspires reclaiming constitutional government for the United States and subsequently all nations.
Humans can define themselves by their ability to meet the following challenges: First, being guardians of their environment. Second, providing for the physical and spiritual welfare of their families. Third, being caretakers of their world brothers and sisters. Forth, governing for the common welfare of all world citizens by establishing checks and balances that prevent harmful extremism. Fifth, living in harmony with their physical and spiritual environment. 
Sixth, accepting the brief gift of life allowed by a mysterious universal force composed of energy changing form.

AGE OF ENLIGHTENMENT:

Future generations must be taught the value of the Constitution and those ageless principles designed to guide humans through life. Our generation lost sight of them and breached their boundaries. Our generation promoted patriotism, flag raising, and national holidays to celebrate past accomplishments even as we drifted rudderless into dysfunction, partisan politics, and fiscal despair. Future generations must recognize these fault lines and be prepared to avoid them. The best Constitution and Christian principles have little value when breached and a nation is divided into failed and destructive partisan camps. A dysfunctional and fiscally challenged nation without a recognizable Constitution and basic principles requires a new and enlightened generation.

The spark that created the universe(s) also sparked the evolution of Enlightenment. With the evolution of planet earth and life enlightenment began as humans asked why. This WHY question has never been fully answered. However, as humans evolved enlightenment grew slowly as centuries passed and humans emerged from their primitive stage. 

If world citizens are serious about achieving freedom, prosperity, and peace they must be willing to unite and work together to be caretakers of the environment and all life. These are achievable goals provided the human race has achieved a level of enlightenment that limits the dark side of human nature. Given the dark state of the world, there is significant evidence that humans can constructively work together for the common welfare.  We are still immersed in a struggle between the dark and light nature of humankind. The light side is still struggling  to contain the dark side. The light side is composed of those few that struggle to contain the dark side. The silent majority remains disengaged.

The absence of enlightenment in governing and religion is appalling. The complexity of the human species, Homo sapient, exceeds all light and dark boundaries. The light side of humans exceeds all creative boundaries in the fields of macro and micro science, imagination, creativity, and organization skills. Exploration, art, dance, and sports challenges are being met and exceeded. The dark side of humans lack the enlightenment necessary to remain within governing and religious boundaries that prevent the human race from destructing itself. Boundaries define the limits that must be observed if governing and religious principles are the foundation that preserves the social integrity of the human race. The State of the world and the United States reflects that breaking governing and religious dark boundaries has reached a critical stage. Governing and religious institutions depend on schools, colleges, and universities providing enlightened teachers, citizens, and leaders. Obviously, the lack of enlightenment in governing and religious institutions is the challenge. To meet this challenge world citizens must understand the importance of becoming enlightened. 

Choosing Enlightened Leadership:

Irresponsible citizens choose irresponsible leaders. If true, our challenge is to convince citizens and leaders to take responsibility for the welfare of their government. First, both citizens and leaders must have a level of enlightenment that allows acting responsibly. The first step is to define and understand existing resources and significance of the task. Our resources are: First, significant knowledge of the physical laws that control the environment, planet, and universe. Second, past experience gained, good and bad, since the emergence of humankind. Third, the collective insight and wisdom of past and present valued leaders from all races, cultures, and nationalities. Forth, the birth of a Constitution designed by free world wise Founding Fathers on a virgin continent. The next challenge is to use these resources to define how further enlightenment of world citizens and leaders can be achieved. 

The task of enlightening world citizens and leaders begins by understanding that the behavior of humans is exceptional, unpredictable, erratic, and extreme. Human nature ranges from dark to light and light to dark-some times instantanious.  Humans are a frightening singularity of nature-born out of evolution. The real challenge is to dampen the dark side and enhance the light side of human nature. Governing requires using mandatory and inforcible checks and balances to control extreme human behavior. There may be no other way.  World society has yet to attain the discipline required to accomplish this task. That's why enlightenment has to be the goal. It's impossible for even the most enlightened leaders to lead human masses that have no clear understanding of who's leading, why, or where they are being led. The challenge then becomes finding a way to increase the enlightenment of both citizens and leaders. Next, world citizens and leaders must thoughtfully agree on what their expectations are for the future and how those expectations will be met. Only, then do world citizens and leaders have a chance to live free, productive, and peaceful lives for the remaining time allowed by an environment that is dependent on the whims of a changing field of universal energy. These are the universal boundaries we exist in. 

We can begin by agreeing that enlightened citizens and leaders must establish forms of government that establishes checks and balances that prevent extreme behavior from threatening the common welfare. This simple rule applies to each and every nation and any alliance of nations. If we had a powerful alliance of nations today they would never tolerate a nation as threatening as North Korea or any other nation that threatened the welfare of a strong alliance of nations composed of enlightened citizens and leaders. The fact is, the world of nations has no nation that meets these qualifications. The United States Founding Fathers of thirteen colonies, on a virgin continent, established and ratified a Constitution that, if followed, had the potential to evolve a high degree of enlightened citizens and leaders. It never happened. The reasons for failure are evident. United States self-gratification exceeded all Constitution, Christian, and secular expectations. Any hope for success is growing dim. Human DNA may yet evolve a level of enlightenment that allows all citizens and leaders to meet their expectations. 

Past Versus the Future:

There is overwhelming evidence that humans cling to political, religious, and cultural differences that assure world conflict. Clinging to old world differences is not productive. Divisive political parties, cultural differences, and religious doctrines and rituals that divide world citizens is not a sustainable path. The twenty first century requires a path that enlightens, unifies, and enables world citizens to be responsible caretakers of the environment and humankind. This path requires a harmonious relationship that bond humans to the environment and and all forms of life.

Humans recognize the presence of a mysterious energy permeating the universe and all life. The beauty of the universe brings ‘Aha’ moments to all who pause and recognize the wonders that surround them. The creation of this mysterious energy remains a mystery beyond human understanding. There is an innate need to cling to metaphors that symbolize the presence of an unseen creator. However, humans must be guardians of life and the environment. Humankind has every innate sense and skill necessary to meet all self -imposed expectations. This challenge requires enlightened world citizens that understand the state of the world and have knowledge of those processes required to sustain unified nations and end unnecessary conflict. This leads us to the meaning of enlightenment and how we become enlightened.

The Enlightenment of United States and world citizens is necessary for understanding the history of enlightenment as it spread across the world. The importance of enlightenment began in the early development of Chinese, Iranian, Indian, Islamic, Jewish, and Christian cultures. The history of all nations and cultures reflects the growth of enlightenment. However, enlightenment regresses as civilizations peak. These peaks are followed by increased world conflict. The settlement of thirteen independent colonies on a virgin North American continent set the stage for an advanced period of enlightenment. For thirteen independent colonies on a virgin continent, old world obstacles, bonds, and boundaries ceased and they grasped the opportunity to throw off all past precedents, shackles. They built a nation where freedom, prosperity, and peace was the law of the land. Founding Fathers knowledgeable of old world fault lines broke the old mold of medieval thinking and created a unified nation and a constitutional republic form of government destined to be a model for all world nations.

Tragically, human history tends to repeat itself. As the United States peaked it also threw off enlightenment and with it went compliance with the Constitution and related principles. Checks and balances were ignored. Citizens addicted to following the dictates of self-serving partisan political parties, partisan religious institutions, and biased corporate media delegated their citizen and parental responsibilities in exchange for self-gratification and mindless and socially unproductive activities. The lure of mindless television, computer, and technological fads absorb excess attention and results in failure to balance technology with the principles of healthy and stable families, the Constitution, and related principles. As a result citizens became less and less enlightened and became an electorate incapable of selecting and electing responsible leaders and holding them accountable. Now, the only remedy is for United States Citizens and their children to begin the process of becoming enlightened. This will take some time and perhaps a generation or two if we start now.

Becoming enlightened is a continuing process. The Internet gives this definition: “ ‘The Age of Enlightenment’ is a noun used to describe a time in Western Philosophy and cultural life in which reason was advocated as the primary source and legitimacy for authority”. The term Enlightenment, when used in this context, requires a capital E and is traceable to early Western, Eastern, and Religious philosophy. It is argued that the signatories of the American Declaration of Independence, the United States Bill of Rights, the French Declaration of the Rights of Man, and the Polish-Lithuanian Constitution of May 3, 1791 were motivated by enlightenment principles. Reading, reading, and more reading of books of knowledge is a process that brings enlightenment that enables one to achieve clarity and depth of understanding of one’s nature, destiny, and purpose in life.

Buddha quotes: “To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.”

United States Founding Fathers realized they had created a constitutional republic form of government. They knew it was a miracle made possible by enlightened men on a virgin continent for a new breed of citizens that required freedom, prosperity, and peace. The Founding Fathers knew this Constitution would spread to world nations. They also feared that the effort to comply with Constitution requirements and its related principles would be a greater price then United States Citizens would be willing to pay. We now know they were right. The quality of citizens and elected leaders degraded and the nation plunged into self-gratification, partisan politics, and debt. The United States arrogantly chooses to reform rogue nations by threats, force, and occupation rather then by example. Thus we chose to abandon being a beacon of light guided by constitutional law and proven ageless principles. The nation meant to be a beacon of light to all nations is slowly burning out. Can this cinder of a once great and model nation ignite an age of Enlightenment and once again become a beacon of Light? This book is about ways to meet this challenge.

Today, political protesters give praise to our Founding Fathers even as they reject every principle. Founding Fathers met face to face and hammered out the Constitution. These outstanding men left records that reflect their concerns and reasoning. They faced incredible danger and death if they failed. They faced hardship and endured major illnesses as they traveled by horseback from their homes to their meeting places. Today, our representatives face no such adversity. However, it is painful to watch the anguish and anxiety our representatives experience as they struggle to agree on codes of ethics for their parties. It is a pitiful sight no person should have to experience.

The 13 colonies overcame their differences for the common good and united around a miracle called the Constitution. Today, our political parties break in half and squabble away the nations human and natural resources as our nation tears apart the very fabric of the Constitution. Now, we face the challenge of enlightening our children so they can restore the Constitution. Where will the government, education, and religious leaders come from? Only enlightened and willing citizens can answer this question. I think we are bound to the hope that our children will embrace enlightenment and accomplish what our generation failed to do. I think Mitt Romney is right when he stated in his latest book, No Apology: “Today we find ourselves at a very different moment in history, and I fear that if we remain on our current track, history will come to know us as this nation's worst generation--- because we will force our children and their children to bear the brunt of our recklessness and the willful neglect of the problems we created.”

United States and world leaders accept citizens just as they are. Enlightening nations citizens is time consuming and expensive. Why waste money and time enlightening consumers and laborers that are willing to support an economy and a marketplace with little or no fiscal restraint. A successful capitalist system requires fiscal responsibility by corporations and citizens. A reasonable balance optimizes and sustains all parties far into the future. Government, education, and religious leaders seeking near term goals see little or no benefit in requiring enlightened citizens capable of independent thinking and reasoning. However, the fact remains that the twenty first century demands that citizens enlighten themselves and take the initiative to unify and become actively engaged with government, education, and religious leaders. Citizens must demand, establish, and implement policies and goals that lead future youth to continuous enlightenment. The benefits from enlightenment are:

Humans must realize they are animals, created through evolution, with innate senses that include a dark nature that makes them a threat to the planet, its environment, and each other. This threat can only be countered by a constitutional republic form of government with checks and balances that guard against extreme behavior.

Recognizing the Universe and Life:

It’s a fact. A constitutional republic form of government is not possible without enlightened leaders and citizens. Without a significant number of enlightened and active leaders and citizens a nation is dysfunctional and destined to fail. Enlightenment is a vision and goal that requires our total attention if we are to travel a path that leads to meeting self imposed expectations. This is a path that requires humankind to establish checks and balances that shield us from the dark side of human nature. Becoming enlightened is the process of recognizing, accepting, and acting on the following principles and constitutional checks and balances derived by past experience:

Recognizing that the origin and meaning of this mysterious Universe continues to be beyond all categories of human thought.

Understanding that this universe is composed of fleeting forms of energy.

The universe is an infinite ball of energy changing form. Changes in form are driven by turbulence within the field of energy. Changes in form spawn forms of complex life. Life evolves as energy fields create an environment for their survival. This process of evolution evolved Homo sapient. The existence of Homo sapient is dependent on changing energy fields over time. Space and time is pertinent to humans only. Forces controlling this mysterious energy must be left to the imagination. The tenure of humans in the universe is fleeting.

Know that humankind is a singularity. A species of animal, Homo sapient, endowed with exceptional abilities that include reasoning, imagination, and awareness of mortality.

Recognizing that human nature has dark and light extremes that drive extreme deviate behavior. This behavior must be controlled by a constitutional republic form of government containing checks and balances that hold people in the center of darkness and light extremes.

Realize that the degradation of the environment and life forms of planet earth began with the evolution of Homo sapient. Deviant behavior continues to accelerate as humankind accepts and pursues divisiveness in politics, religion, cultures, and race. No other animal can begin to approach the phenomenal wonders of human creation and also the degree of depravity practiced by humans. Realize that the growth of human depravity spans the planet and reaches deep into all segments and levels of society. None are spared.

Citizen rights require accepting and maintaining citizen responsibilities.

Recognize the rapture of living displayed throughout the animal kingdom. Their experience of being alive resonates on a physical plane that is easily observed. Humankind should be so enlightened that they also experience the meaning and rapture of being alive.

Enlightenment is an extended form of the evolutionary process and necessary to prepare and equip humans to live together free from conflict while meeting all expectations.

Enlightenment permits us to admit deviant behavior that is endemic to human nature and set in place those processes that block such behavior.

The pursuit of studies that bring forth the wisdom of Founding Fathers of all nationalities including Babylonian, Indian, Iranian, Chinese, Korean, and all others bring enlightenment.

Enlightenment will not come without the presence of joy brought by exuberance, love of life, and an innate ability to find those resources within us to overcome irrational actions that bring conflict.

Enlightenment is illuminated when humankind realizes that technology cannot be allowed to infringe on the natural development of those instincts that keep humankind in harmony with the environment and one another.

Enlightenment and science complement each other. Enlightenment advances science and at the same time establishes technology boundaries that assure enlightened, principled, and stable families and civilizations.

Blind faith in the absence of reason extinguishes enlightenment. Reasoning is one primary gift that separates Homo sapient from the animal species. Blind faith absent reason is the primary tool used by political, education, and religious institutions to maximize power, wealth, and influence. It is a highly successful tool because it allows world citizens to escape responsibility for their life in action.

Citizen lack of enlightenment allows politicians and special interests to manipulate the strings that control what you see, hear, think, or do.

The path to enlightenment is an opportunity for a spiritual awakening that brings peace of mind, purpose, direction, and union with fellow beings striving for a way of life free from continuous conflict. However, being enlightened does not guarantee being a responsible leader, family man, or citizen. Many nations have enlightened government, religious, and education leaders whose dark side creates conflict and chaos that devastate the nations policies, resources, and goals. The challenge is to build an enlightened electorate that can chose enlightened leaders based on performance, integrity, and trust. This requires a constitutional republic form of government with checks and balances that shields society from the dark side of human nature. United States Founding Fathers recognized the dark side of human nature and founded a Constitution that, if followed, protected society from itself and government from society.

Founding Fathers Legacy:

Our Founding Fathers life experiences and philosophical studies gave them a much broader knowledge of religion, government, politics, history, and economics than our current national leaders and electorate. Their knowledge of Greek, Roman, Anglo-Saxon, European, and English history was extensive. They had first hand knowledge of forms of governments and their deficiencies. They recognized the dark nature of humans and weaved checks and balances into the Constitution to guard citizens from government, religious, and special interest leaders. This knowledge made them well suited for developing a Constitution that offered peace, prosperity, and freedom for all world nations. The United States was to be that beacon of light for nations seeking to be guardians of all life and the environment.

The Founding Fathers feared that the branches of government would usurp power from one another. They felt that corrupt leaders would evade Constitution checks and balances and eventually abuse requirements for separation of powers. Now, we know that to be a fact. The Founding Fathers advised the following checks and balances to preserve the Constitution and its related principles:

The Founding Fathers left a legacy of wisdom in letters and Federalist Papers written to gain support for Constitution ratification. As you can see by their following quotes and comments we failed to heed their advice and now our nations future is threatened.

egislators….If the legislative body are corrupt, you will soon have bad men for counselors, corrupt judges, unqualified justices, and officers in every department who will dishonor their stations"

United States citizens now realize that their nation has become dysfunctional and ungovernable. Without enlightened leaders and citizens the nation faces overwhelming challenges that require transitioning to a twenty first century constitutional republic form of government with the appropriate checks and balances. It’s critical we understand the following obstacles and the root causes of our nations State of the Union: United States Constitution requires an enlightened electorate. An electorate that stands by as partisan political leaders hand citizens a dysfunctional debt ridden government requires a degree of enlightenment. It is time to provide citizens the means by which they can be an integral part of government functions and hold government accountable for their legislation and behavior.

United States Constitution requires enlightened leaders chosen by an enlightened electorate.

Enlightened electorate and leaders do not exist and therefore we have a dysfunctional United States:

The lack of enlightened and unified government leaders and citizens has allowed unified special interests (political parties, educators, and business and religious corporations) to divide the nation and take control of the nations Constitution, principles, legislature, policies, goals, fiscal responsibilities, and leadership.

The Constitution is based on all power resting with the electorate. That premise has never been satisfied or can be without an enlightened electorate.

The primary responsibility for compliance to the Constitution rests with the executive, congressional, and Supreme Court. If they fail United States educators, religious institutions, and electorate are our last hope. All have failed to recognize that without enlightenment a Constitutional Republic form of government is impossible

This brings us to defining the root cause for the dismantling of a form of government known as the world’s greatest step toward establishing freedom, prosperity, and peace for all world citizens. The dark side of human nature is the root cause and is still in ascendance. This is the greatest obstacle we face and can only be defeated with enlightenment.

Science tells us the evolution of humankind began about 13.7 billion years ago with the Big Bang. The Big Bang resulted in the formation of the universe, galaxies, and planet earth. The evolution of planet earth brought life and a specie of animal known as Homo sapient. Homo sapient are a singularity of nature in that they have advanced capabilities and a volatile nature that ranges from the darkest deeds to the loftiest ideals. The evolution of Homo sapient evolved humans that retained their innate animal senses while gaining advanced senses that brought the ability to reason, imagine, and organize.

Enlightenment is the path to becoming whole and in harmony with ones inner being. This condition reflects radiance and behavior that reflects a person that has become transparent to transcendence. This is a condition all citizens strive for and rarely achieve. World citizens must strive to become enlightened. It is the path to the future. There is no other path. Ending conflict and chaos requires world citizens to take one more giant step to maturity and dominance over the dark side of human nature. World citizens must emerge from extremist beliefs.

“How is it possible,” Schopenhauer asks in his celebrated essay On the Foundation of Morality, “How is it possible that suffering that is neither my own nor of my concern should immediately affect me as though it were my own, and with such force that it moves me to action?….Schopenhauer's answer to his question is that this immediate reaction and response represents the breakthrough of a metaphysical realization that all are one and inseparable.

The discovery and development of the North American Continent set in motion a chain of events never imagined. People from many nations left despair and helplessness behind and came seeking new opportunity in a virgin land. These early pioneers left tribal conflict, tyranny, and servitude behind and became self sufficient and independent as they carved out a living in a new environment. The early pioneer thirst for freedom and independence took a giant leap. Leaders of the thirteen colonies declared their independence from England. For the first time in the history of man a Constitution was drafted, debated, revised endless times, and at last, approved and ratified by the thirteen colonies. This monumental feat was led by Founding Fathers that recognized both the dark and light side of human nature and knew that checks and balances were required to keep the dark side from prevailing. These checks and balances were designed into the Constitution.

The Federalist Papers were written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay. The world wise and highly educated Founding Fathers were serious students, philosophers, and capable of debating and reaching agreement that all could support. Unlike today, these men chose statesmanship and the welfare of the colonies over partisan politics. These men were not perfect. They had many faults that had to be overcome. But, they had the wisdom, grit and the will to travel in terrible weather, poor health, and for years face and debate one another until agreement on legislation and principles were achieved. The Founders, face to face, engaged in exhaustive debates that seriously effected their health, wealth, and security. They founded a Constitution that had the potential, if followed, to lead, world nations to freedom, prosperity, and peace.

Unfortunately, having achieved economic and military superiority, the United states became arrogant and drifted away from the Constitution and it's principles. The heart and soul of the Constitution is based on enlightened electorate, congress, supreme court, and executive leaders fulfilling their Constitutional responsibilities. Unfortunately, the dark and divisive nature of humans prevailed and lingering primitive tribal instincts overcame the requirement to meet Constitution responsibilities. Now, national and global challenges have peaked, and all citizens, states, and branches of the United States government are engaged in and addicted to destructive partisan politics that divide the nation and render it financially unstable.

Citizens, it's time for an intervention. We must pick enlightened statesman that can unite the nation, enlighten the electorate, and lead a return to a constitutional republic form of government and related principles. A beginning requires an electorate that is knowledgeable of the Constitution, The Federalist Papers, and a book, National Center for Constitutions Studies, forty years in the making, called, The Making of America-The Substance and Meaning of the Constitution by W. Cleon Skousen. This book, written to be easy to read, uses the Constitution to guide you through the years that led to the ratification of the Constitution. Every citizen, at a minimum, should be grounded in the knowledge provided in these three books. This knowledge will give you purpose, direction, and understanding of your role in the pursuit of freedom, prosperity, and peace. You will become the rock that can support the opportunity to assure the future welfare of your nation, your state, and your family.

Why Enlightenment is Important:

Global peace is our goal and meeting this goal is our bridge to the future. Attaining global peace requires world citizens to reach a level of maturity that allows accepting responsibility for themselves and their nation.

Clinton Rossiter wrote, there is “no happiness without liberty, no liberty without self-government, no self-government without constitutionalism, no constitutionalism without morality-and none of these great goods without stability and order.”

Why should we strive to become enlightened? We have lived in conflict and chaos so long it is our chosen way of life. I see no need for world citizens to seek enlightenment just because people say it is the thing to do. But, if you’re caught up in something that brightens your day or gives you purpose and direction this may be the gig for you. Most people today are consumed by the latest technology, health, and media fads. Life is short and living for the moment is what most people aspire to. The knowledge, experience, and principles of founding fathers, of all nations, are cast aside in modern day search for power, influence, and wealth. Attaining and participating in the latest status symbols and media events is an every day priority. The enlightenment of future generations is critical to their future and we are failing to meet that challenge. As we reach our elder years and grasp the futility of wasted lives we face the consequences of our actions. We must live with the knowledge that we passed on massive fiscal debt, unresolved critical issues, and dysfunctional governments to our children. And so the world goes. The malaise of this generation is such that any sense of responsibility for basic human needs, life, and the environment barely exists. Thanks for those few enlightened citizens that spend their lives striving to achieve a better world for all citizens. These few demonstrate what all should emulate.

Citizens realize they need enlightenment and act to become enlightened so they can participate in shaping a positive future for themselves and their children.

Citizens have a literate and literal understanding of their Constitution and its principles.

Citizens recognize, accept, and fulfill their responsibilities under the Constitution.

Citizens accept responsibility for holding their elected officials accountable to the Constitution and its checks and balances.

Citizens participate in developing educational curriculum that guarantee their children receive an education that makes them knowledgeable of their Founding Fathers, the Constitution, and its related principles.

Citizens instruct political parties at local, state, and national levels to meet in a common setting, time, and address issues and legislation based on critical and priority in a responsible way. When citizens recognize they now live in a fragile global world where remote changes effects all world citizens and require the attention and liaison of all governor, state, and national leaders. Citizens take responsibility for their children safety, health, and education and stand as guardians between children interest and the special interests of government, religious institutions, and corporations. Threats to children include all interests that live to prey on youth. The animal kingdom provides more protection and care for their young then our decadent society.

What Extremist Fear Most-My View:

Lately, it seems that extremist rule the world. That's not true. The masses of ordinary people rule and shape the world when living conditions become unbearable. When this happens extremist leaders fear for their lives. Panic maximizes their extremism. ISIS/ISIL-Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is one example. Their extremism is demonstrated by how willing they are to sever the heads of innocent journalists and anyone that stands in their way. There is a saying, source unknown, that hurt people hurt people. Think about that. Limiting extremism has to be world societies highest priority--if we expect to build a healthy world civilization.  History tells us that the human specie is an unnatural beast whose behavior ranges between extreme highs and lows. All  world nations have their share of extremist. This fact led the Founding Fathers, of thirteen North American colonies, to create a Constitution that limits, if followed, the harm driven by the extreme dark side of human nature..  

An extremist movement begins when a sect --political party--religious organization--rogue nation--terrorist group--chooses uncompromising policies outside the mainstream of society. Humans are natural followers and extremely susceptible to strong extremist movements. Extremist intrude and demand an increasingly large part of our everyday life.The first thing to realize about extremist is--that they make all the rules. The second thing is--that extremist don't have to follow their own rules. The third thing is--that followers  of extremist must obey extremist rules. The forth thing is--that the United States Constitution loses it's relevance in an extremist world. The fifth thing is--that extremist create their own gods. The sixth thing is--that extremist gods also create demands that must also be followed. One might think that advances in technology and communication would enhance citizen independence and inspire enough self-reliance to resist extremist control of their lives. Apparently not. Extremist are adept at addicting citizens to activities that defeat freedom of thought-reason-independence- and motivation. Our medical professionals recognize, at all levels of society, an alarming addiction to media- drugs-obesity-pornography-bullying-rape. You know the rest of the story.
Extremism manifests itself at all levels of society. All societies use degrees of extremism to achieve economic growth, wealth, spirituality, and power.  It's in the human DNA. We all own it. If we sincerely believe in freedom-principles-peace-and goodwill for all world citizens we must dedicate ourselves to a form of government that limits the harm inflicted by extremely dark behavior.

United States Christian and secular leaders and citizens are familiar with our past and present extremist agendas. Our treatment of American Indians-blacks-Hispanics-environment-Gays, and women's rights has been and still is a form of extremism. Our basic responsibility for our children's welfare and the environment is sacrificed by our extreme self-gratification and the spectacle of partisan political party lust for power, corporate wealth, and re-election. Citizen disgust with government leaders is at an alltime low.

Preparing Future Generations:
 
First Goal:The evolution of human and natural resources, over time, evolved all the innate principles, economic philosophy, and constitutional republic forms of government necessary to form a world civilization that meets all human expectations. What's lacking is world citizens desire, enlightenment, and willingness to hold themselves and their governments accountable for the common welfare. A fledgling United States emerged and created a Constitution that, if followed, opened an opportunity to provide for the common welfare of all world citizens. Unfortunately--early on citizens and leaders found they lacked the desire, enlightenment, and willingness to hold themselves accountable to their Constitution, principles, and God. There were decades in which the United States had little to no challenges to it's superpower status. United States leadership became subservient to partisan political parties and continues to disintegrate. Today, United States superpower status is challenged within and without by China, Iran, Russia, and world terrorist that no longer esteem an obviously dysfunctional United States. Now, this generation of United States leaders must recognize and accept the reality that partisan political party politics has destroyed the self-respect of it's leaders and citizens. National and international confidence in United States leadership grows less day by day. Our generation is responsible for our State of the Union. Therefore, hope for the future relies on our ability to leave this generations baggage behind and prepare United States youth to build a functional United States government.

To accomplish this we must instill the desire, enlightenment, and willingness necessary for them to succeed and prepare future generations to succeed. Only then can the united States be that beacon of light and hope that inspires all other nations seeking peace, prosperity, and freedom.

Is the United States claim to being a nation dedicated to the Constitution and related principles valid? First, the State of the Union refutes that. Second, citizens ten to fifteen percent approval rate of state and national leaders refutes that. Third, citizens ignorance of their Constitution, Federalist Papers,and branches of government refutes that. Forth, epic corruption, drugs, health, and lack of national principles refutes that. Fifth, Lack of respect and responsibility for environmental hazards to our children refute that. Sixth, congressional sloth and failure to govern refutes that. Therefore, The future welfare of citizens and children require a funding program designed to prepare United States youth to leave this generations baggage behind and return this nation to a functional status. The following is required of leaders, citizens, and youth: First, American youth must be trained and certified as guardians of the Constitution and accountable for the common welfare of the nation. Second, new American youth education programs must be designed to maximize enlightenment, match or exceed international technical and debating skills, and prepare them to lead the United States and the youth of future nations into a free and productive future. Third, learn and understand partisan political party mistakes and their baggage that makes our nation dysfunctional. A functional Congress requires representatives free to make their own decisions based first on the nations welfare and second on their states needs.

Second Goal: All nations, preparing for the future, must realize that a positive outcome requires an international commitment to the common welfare of all world citizens. No single nation can succeed alone. This world's generation is morally responsible for preparing future generations to build a world community dedicated to the common welfare of all world citizens. Our world generation is beginning to recognize that blind acceptance and addiction to despotic governments, corrupt partisan political parties, and endless religious institutions, each claiming to speak for a God, does not provide for the common welfare. The youth of all nations recognize that this world generation carries baggage that must be left behind. Youth recognizes, demands, and seeks a vision that allows them to live their lives in peace and harmony with the environment. Now, this world generation must set it's baggage aside and establish an environment that enables world youth to pursue their vision of a world society dedicated to the common welfare. This requires current world and religious leaders to acknowledge existing baggage and use the knowledge and wisdom of our nations founding fathers to team with world youth to establish a future that allows all people to live peaceful and productive lives in harmony with the planets environment. This, is the time for redemption and a new world order. We need to suck it up and team with our world youth to build a future they can be proud to leave to future generations.
 
Extremism between races-cultures-religions-politics--sects-species drives fear and anxiety--this is the baggage that prevents meeting human expectations. God versus science-Homo sapient versus creation-good versus evil-hate versus love-enlightenment versus ignorance-hope versus despair-fiery furnace versus heaven-and on and on. Extremism not contained drives the State of Humanity. Hopefully, what citizens refuse to do for God--country--freedom--and peace they may some day do for their children. The high priority question is whether or not humans can limit their extremism through constitutional republic forms of government designed with checks and balances that prevent extremism. This goal requires answering the following:
Is the international community dedicated to strengthening the United Nations and delegating  the power and military might necessary to halt extreme behavior by any terrorists, nation, or group of nations that threaten the rule of international law? Are world citizens willing to hold themselves and international leaders accountable for compliance to international law? If not where do we go from here? These are questions and challenges human societies must make.

The United States State of the Union 

The State of the Union demonstrates the behavior of United States leaders and citizens. The common welfare of all friendly nations is served by a strong State of the Union. A weak State of the Union invites aggression from unfriendly nations and all terrorist organizations.Today, the State of the Union is threatened, from within, by divisiveness, self-doubt, and failure to recognize, acknowledge, and resolve longstanding national and world social and environmental challenges. These weaknesses foreshadow the future of a United States that still is a beacon of hope for world nations.

The Constitution inspired thirteen colonies to end their bondage to kings and become the first free people on planet earth. This magnificent document opened  the door for all world citizens seeking freedom. It empowered United States citizens to elect and dismiss leaders when necessary. Today, citizens yield their Constitution empowerment to partisan political parties--even as they give both parties a failing grade. 

A Process for United States and World Citizen Empowerment:

World challenges threaten the welfare and security of all nations.  Our divided and dysfunctional partisan political parties demonstrate weaknesses that aid and abet unfriendly nations and specific terrorists organizations(ISIS/ISIL-Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant). How long will United States Citizens remain addicted to partisan political parties--whose only goal is absolute control of each and every member of the Senate and House of Representatives. We have seen this level of addiction increase exponentially over time. Today, United States leaders and citizens are realizing that the Constitution demands more responsibility and accountability then citizens are willing to accept. The Founding Fathers suggested that would be the case. Now we are confirming it. Thankfully, there are responsible citizens who step forward and fight for a stronger State of the Union--these few strive to meet the Founding Fathers expectations for independent, free, peaceful, and prosperous citizens. Unfortunately, there are are't enough. Today, we face elections that demonstrate, for the world to see, the true State of the Union. We do this at a time when the United States should be demonstrating national unity, resolve, and solutions to critical challenges. Instead, our electorate holds our government in contempt and gives political leaders failing grades for their leadership.

The United States has a desperate need for an awakening that motivates planning, preparedness, and a return to constitutional law. It should not take terrorist strikes, within the United States, to inspire citizens to motivate their leaders to jointly create and implement a mission statement that positions the United States to be a model that all other nations would desire to follow. The following action is required: First, the United States must set aside decades of addiction to partisan political parties. Second, The United States must demonstrate, by behavior, a commitment to constitutional law instead of partisan political party law. Third, elected leaders must cease their, dysfunctional childish behavior and demonstrate what serious leadership can accomplish. Forth, citizens must be knowledgeable of their Constitution. Any librarian will happily direct you to the Constitution and essential documents such as The Federalist, (Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, John Jay}, and The Making of the America, by W.Cleon Skousen. Mission success requires It. Fifth, it's unconscionable to send our armed forces into harms way, as we usually do, while self-serving  partisan political party leaders disregard what they are elected to do. Sixth, citizens must gain the courage to be accountable for themselves, their Constitution, and the common welfare of all citizen and nations. Isn't this what we stand for?

Expectations, Constitution, Commitment:

The Bible, Constitution, and Federalist Papers are documents citizens and leaders wants to have read, comprehended, and committed to, while in reality, few wants to read, comprehend, or commit to. Citizens, religious and elected government leaders expectations are extremely high, while commitment to the Bible, Constitution, and related principles are critically low. High expectations without commitment defines our current State of the Union.

Given the State of the Union and the World we can surely agree that enlightenment occurs when we become independent, committed, and willing to actively use reason, imagination, and observation to gain insight, experience, and accountability for our behavior. Bible principles were incorporated in the Constitution. The Constitution grants rights, defines responsibilities, and holds citizens accountable for enforcing them. 

Those that advocate adherence to the checks and balances, principles, and requirements of these documents are shunned by partisan political parties. Partisan political parties fabricate false information and use all forms of media to rally their base to act witlessly on issues that have little or no meaning for the common welfare. Meaningless distractions and low priority issues are used to avoid addressing high priority challenges that are critical to the future of the nation. All citizens and leaders now realize they are caught in the grip of primitive tribal instincts that have always lead to the downfall of societies, nations, and civilizations.

Wanting humans working together for the common welfare may be expecting more than the human specie is capable of delivering. Perhaps, sometime in the distant future human enlightenment may reach a level that will allow the Bible, Constitution, and Federalist Papers to serve the common welfare. Until then we must make an effort to achieve a level of enlightenment and commitment that allows support for constitutions, checks and balances, and principles dedicated to the common welfare of all citizens.

Following the signing and ratification of the Constitution, elected leaders realized that citizens were't qualified, or interested, in participating in the governing process. Governing grew increasingly complex. The formation of political parties empowered each to use intimidation to control when and how, with rare exceptions, each congressman and senator would vote. Power and control of government passed from citizens and their elected leaders to partisan political parties. Partisan politics drove each party to avoid contact and meet separately, at different times and locations, to define the strategy required to empower themselves. This divide between partisan political parties drives political splits at all levels of society: First, splits began within families, counties, and states. Second, splits between political parties. Third, splits within each political party, Forth, splits between and within religious institutions.

World nations, dependent on a functional and responsible United States, are stunned and fearful as they watch the most powerful nation in the world becoming divided, dysfunctional, and fiscally challenged. The United States struggles to govern itself and remain relevant as a world leader capable of leading all nations to face global social and environmental challenges.

Wanting humans working together for the common welfare may be expecting more than the human specie is capable of delivering. Perhaps, sometime in the distant future human enlightenment may reach a level that will allow the Bible, Constitution, and Federalist Papers to serve the common welfare. Until then we must make an effort to achieve a level of enlightenment and commitment that allows support for constitutions, checks and balances, and principles dedicated to the common welfare of all citizens.
The United States and all other world citizens are struggling to build a civilization that meets all our expectations. All are seeking enlightenment and the ascent of civilization. We have our problems.
We humans are a singularity of evolution-evolved from a mysterious infinite energy field beyond all categories of human thought.  Beyond the mystery of this infinite energy field, we call home, is the Creator of our dreams. Continuous evolution enhanced our ability to reason, imagine, and create-seeking structure we classify all life forms. We identify ourselves as Homo sapient-a specie that enately knows no boundaries and is capable of extreme highs and lows. We are also capable of self-destruction-our scientist, understanding the state of our environment, live with that fear. Yet few leaders or citizens are listening and heeding scientist warnings. The time span of life on planet earth is a function of many variables-including the life of the sun-mega meteors-an environment that may no longer support life-and unknown threats. The goal is to avoid human and environmental extremes and live in a way that resonates with one another and the environment-we have failed to meet these challenges and lack the wisdom and the will to try. Further enlightenment is required. The purpose of this document is to convince world citizens to work together to meet world challenges.  

PATHS TO the Creation-Differing concepts of creation has and continues to drive the conflict and chaos that plagues humankind. This curse will only ease if and when enlightenment progresses-that requires humans living in harmony with nature and one another. As primitive Homo sapient emerged they experienced an AHA moment and recognized mortality-this moment raised many innate questions. The emergence of Homo sapient brought an innate need to understand it's origin and purpose for being. Each remote primitive tribe created variety of gods to satisfy that need. As tribes merged the role of creation advanced and consolidated. Over time, isolated tribes became villages-cities-and nations. Extremist leaders advanced the concept that a God created all matter-all life,-all humans-and granted eternal life in a celestial heaven for those who accepted his will-worshiped-praised-and followed his and his prophets commandments. Not all humans believe or follow extremist commandments-Many choose to accept the idea that the origin of the universe and life remains a mysterious unknown.

Evolution versus Creation beliefs continue to take differing shapes. Many paths to Creation are taken-Here are a few: First, many innately recognize the presence of a Creator through the nature that surrounds them-they find that fulfilling. Second, many require a more tangible presence of the Creator-therefore they create visual icons to represent the Creator. Third, many required temples, rituals, and sacrifices to please and assaage a possibly needy and angry Creator. Forth, next came a need for biblical text-written by humans and many believe dictated by the Creator. Fifth, apparently religious leaders assume a needy Creator requires continuous adoration and worship-therefore temples must be built and filled with worshipers that speak, pray, and sing his praises-this  priority takes place even though children, living in deprivation, die from starvation and a poluted environment. All cultures-races-religions-and nations use variations of these paths to satisfy their personal desires. However, all these paths are subject to change-religious leaders dictate changes, as politics and science advances, in order to remain relevant. Human history is clear-enlightenment drives science. As science advances-world public opinion drives government, corporations, and religious institutions to adapt in order to remain relevant. This is a fact that challenges all national leaders. It is a slow torturous process.

There is a better way to live: I refuse to believe that a Creator would be offended if humans bypassed all differences, driven by disputes over creation and evolution, and bonded together to provide for the common welfare and the health of the environment. I believe this would meet all Creator and human expectations. Is this impossible? If so, we are driven to accept the fact that the evolution of the specie Homo sapient was a freakish act of nature-that should never have happened. Now, we must move on to more positive ideas of how to provide for the common welfare.

Evolution of the Universe:

Out of a mysterious All Encompassing Energy Field came a Big Bang that unleashed an extreme explosion of energy that evolved our universe. The origin of this mysterious energy field remains unknown. Early tribes created Gods, as icons, to represent that mysterious energy. That trend continues to this day. Violent universal energy extremes led to the formation of our planet. These violent environmental extremes continue to alter the inner and outer surfaces of planet earth. Even today, tectonic plates on the planets surface are shifting and driving extreme environmental events. Space debris striking our planets surface delivered minerals that allowed the formation of basic life forms. As basic life forms evolved, evolution formed a new specie of animal. Scientists labeled this animal Homo sapient-we refer to ourselves as humans. Human advances in science inform us that all life is a fleeting moment in the life of our planet. We have come to realize that life and our planet is a fleeting moment in the history of our universe. Science informs us that universe(s) exist as a function of an energy field beyond our ability to imagine. Scientists continue to seek answers that explain the origin of this mysterious energy field that drives our universe. Meanwhile, we humans continue to seek a degree of enlightenment that minimizes the dark side and emphasizes the positive side of our nature.    

The development of the Internet was a giant leap for humankind. Today, the Internet has brought citizens of all nations into a common living room. No longer can world citizens dodge the fact that every manner of deprivation, injustice, and conflict exists in every corner of the world. This fact is a wakeup call that should inspire and motivate responsible world citizens to provide programs that prepare those in need to provide for themselves. For decades the United States has portrayed itself as a Constitution based Christian nation dedicated to freedom, prosperity, and peace. Tens of thousands of America's best youth have been and are still being sacrificed by national leaders, as citizens standby, to prove that point. Today, illrelevant United States citizens prostate themselves before national leaders that blatantly refuse to address critical challenges that have and are still undermining the welfare of the nation and all nations. Too few organizations and enlightened citizens are striving to establish a rule of law that serves the common welfare of all humankind. The United States economy and military might remains unsurpassed in the history of the world. But, fault lines are emerging rapidly as evident by: First, self indulgent society. Second, poor choice of leadership. Third, massive debt. Forth, gradual disintegration of religious institutions and principles. Fifth, advancing technology that distances society from it's natural relationship with the environment-from which we came. 

Merging Science and God:

Fortunately, the human race can adapt to it's environment and throw off the baggage of cultural, racial, and religious differences that have driven endless conflict and chaos. The human race can then adapt a form of government that limits extreme behavior and rewards posistive behavior. This requires: First, a majority of nations dedicated to a constitutional republic form of government that limits the dark side of human behavior. Second, choosing whether to follow a path of science, based on fact, or a path of God, that refutes science. Third, merge belief in science with belief that an unknown power, beyond human knowledge and description, controls this mysterious field of energy that surrounds us. This path frees world citizens from multi gods that require differing doctrines, temples, and rituals. World citizens can then take human and material resources, wasted on conflict and chaos, and use those resources to salvage the planets environment, becoming in harmony with nature, and concentrating on being caretakers of fellow human beings. Then perhaps, we can live orderly lives with dignity, pride, and respect for  ourselves and fellow human beings. In this manner we meet all human and spiritual expectations.

Adapting to the Environment:

Scientist tell us that our environment is a function of universal forces beyond our control. They also tell us that human advances in technology are introducing toxins into the environment and these toxins may disallow life on our planet. This knowledge allows us to take preventive measures.

Every specie on planet earth naturally adapts to it's environment- in order to survive. Humans are an exception. Humans strive to avoid uncomfortable environmental extremes by modifying the environment around them.  

Living in Harmony with the Environment and Fellow Humans:

The United States may be the only nation that can challenge and lead all other nations to meet these challenges. All nations are struggling to deal with radical religions that seek to divide and control all races, cultures, and sects of all nations. 

Unfortunately, for the time being we citizens of the planet must be realistic about our present lives and plans for the future.  First, we must recognize that masses of national citizens lack an environment that allows them to control their daily lives and plan their future.  Second, we must remain aware of our capacity for extreme good and bad behavior. Third, we must use science to establish environmental boundaries that if violated degrades our quality of life and may disallow life itself. Life is a side effect of the mysterious field of energy  we live in. Science tells us we barely exist within the fluctuating boundaries of this energy field. There is very little room for error. Forth, the human dream and expectation for immortal life is understandable. We all share it. However, science has taken society so far into the future that mortality is becoming accepted as a reality. Religious institutions are realizing this and modifying doctrine, rituals, and views in order to remain relevant in society. Fifth, world society most cease dependence on imaginary gods and extremist leaders.

Secularism is an assertion or belief that religious issues should not be the basis ofpolitics, and it is a movement that promotes those ideas (or an ideology) which hold that religion has no place in public life. And the reason that non-secular weddings usually can't be held in such places, and officiated over by such persons, is because of the so-called "separation of church and state" provision of the First Amendment to the Consitution of the United States of America (USA). Pursuant thereto, weddings (and most other ceremonies, as well) which take place in or on government property, presided over by government officials acting in such capacity, must not have anything to do with religion. Instead, they must be "civil" or non-religious (secular) ceremonies. 

Stephen Hawking says he's an atheist, arguing that science offers a "more convincing explanation" for the origins of the universe and that the miracles of religion "aren't compatible" with scientific fact.

"Before we understood science, it was natural to believe that God created the universe, but now science offers a more convincing explanation," the celebrated physicist said in a video posted by Spanish newspaper El Mundo. "What I meant by 'we would know the mind of God' is we would know everything that God would know if there was a God, but there isn't. I'm an atheist."

Hawking's remarks came in response to a question from El Mundo journalist Pablo Jauregui, who quizzed Hawking about his religious leanings in the lead-up to this week's Starmus Festival in the Canary Islands. The "mind of God" reference was Hawking's effort to clarify a passage in his 1988 book "A Brief History of Time," in which he wrote that scientists would "know the mind of God" if a unifying set of scientific principles known colloquially as the theory of everything were discovered.

As NBC News reported, this isn't the first time Hawking has spoken about his religious beliefs.

In 2011, he told The Guardian that he didn't believe in a heaven or an afterlife, calling it "a fairy story for people afraid of the dark." In 2007, he told the BBC that he was "not religious in the normal sense," adding, "I believe the universe is governed by the laws of science. The laws may have been decreed by God, but God does not intervene to break the laws."
